San Antonio de las Minas, B.C.
Estado 29 was founded over 60 years ago in the small village of San Antonio de las Minas, which is approximately 10 miles northeast of Ensenada. From its humble beginnings in one small room, it has grown from 5 to sometimes as many as 90 children ranging in ages from 2 to 17. Most of these children have been abused or abandoned by their families. Many have been rescued from a life on the streets. Although they come from extremely difficult – even brutal – situations, they have found a home in this wonderful, happy, spiritual place where God’s presence is evident.
Orphanages in Mexico are that country’s version of foster care. The government brings children to us, but gives no financial support: we must rely completely on donations.
At Estado 29 we do more than provide food and shelter. We have to provide a safe, loving environment on a long term basis where they can be healed. Life at Estado 29 is simple and feels like a big family with many brothers and sisters.
